At 2:45 we headed down to Port Allen to board the Northern Star. Everyone took off their shoes and the crew locked them in a shoe rack. After a quick review of safety, procedures and plans for the evening, we cast off.
There was seating up front in the promenade area and on the trampoline, in the cabin and at tables in the rear. We chose the rear to stay dryer, as the passengers on the front of the boat were treated to quite a bit of ocean spray as we hit waves.
We motored west and then north up the coast at 18 knots. The coastline became more beautiful as we entered the Na Pali coast.
The 5 person crew was absolutely amazing. This was our chef grilling the shrimp kabobs.
We were served fresh pineapple (nothing like the pineapple we eat back home), salted pretzels and all the juice, soda or water we wanted.
The weather was gorgeous - no jackets required. We did hit some pretty high swells but the captain maneuvered them beautifully.
When we finally reached the end of the Na Pali coast, the crew raised the sail. It was now time for dinner to be served. Our meal started with 2 selection of greens served buffet style in the salon. Dinner was steak, a grilled shrimp kabob, sliced purple sweet potatoes and white potatoes, asparagus spears and baby carrots.
The bar was now open. Their specialty was the Sneaky Tiki. Very tasty but the alcohol content could sneak up on you.
Dessert was a beautiful cheesecake. It was so good, I forget to get a picture.
We continued to sail back to port. The sun was setting and changing the horizon to beautiful hues of yellow, orange and pink. The Captain slowed the boat so we would all have a chance to enjoy the sunset.
We were not the only ones out there, a pair of bottlenose dolphin played in our wake.
Wow, again!
