After copious amounts of research and many phone calls to wonderful people in Kauai, we have finalized all the reservations we plan to make before our trip. I wanted to reserve just the activities that were most important to us. Half of our days are planned and half are open to pick as the days bloom. Hawaiian vacations must start with a luau; water and air activities need to be scheduled early incase of incliment weather rescheduling; SCUBA dives can't be 24 hours before or after flying. So many decisions; so many things to consider.
First night in Kauai is to just enjoy and get a feel for the island. After 9 hours on one plane and an hour in another and also considering the 5 hour time difference, I'm sure it will be an early night.
Some of the highlights we are looking forward to are a luau at the Smith Family Gardens, a bi-plane tour of the island, a sunset cruise on a catamaran to the Na Pali Coast and lastly (and I still can't believe we are doing this) SCUBA lessons and a 2 tank dive IN THE OCEAN. It looks so cool but the thought of just jumping off a boat out in the ocean is just a bit overwhelming to me.
As we continue our plans our packing list grows. Now to do research on GoPro cameras.
